Effective attitudes/orientations in small group communication: person"s general attitude toward group processes and group members extremely important. Various theories of leadership (stephen f hallam: great man theory- leaders are born leaders or sent by god to lead. Turn the organizational chart upside down and think of the leader as servant to others: authentic leadership- leadership comes from the consent of the governed. Leaders only have authority as it derives from those being led. It is closely related to the concept of democratic government of the people, by the people, for the people. Leaders have a clear vision of what they are working towards. They don"t get embroiled in political infighting, gossip, and back stabbing. They encourage those around them to do likewise. If something needs fixing, they do it right away, even if its uncomfortable. The longer things are left, the more difficult they become. Leaders let people know how they are doing.
