Cognitive development is still not developed fully and putting them in an educational setting will help shape it (socialization) Earn enough knowledge to become a functioning member of society. Supervision: watching the children so parents can go to work: reforming education: Economic: how do we educate our children so that they take over our places. Cultural: how do we educate them so that they have some sort of cultural identity. Preconceptions: what is in your head already matters, in regards to new learning. Richly structured information base: building relationships and connections between the things you"re learning and you"re doing it in a way that makes sense to you. Metacognition: when we can step outside our own thinking and monitor our own state of understanding and learning, is a jolt to the system. Metacognitive processes is really important to the learning system.
