If typed too fast, the lever arm for individual letters could become entangled. By the time the mechanical parts were designed to prevent jamming, the qwerty layout had become so common that no one could afford to change it. In 1984 apple computer inc. abandoned its popular apple ii series of microcomputers to introduce the apple macintosh computer with an innovative graphical user interface (gui) to the mac os. The idea for gui and the mouse were developed at the xerox parc in 1968. Steve jobs visited the center before apple adopted the gui interface.
