LAB 4 Microsoft Excel
1) Naming Ranges and Cells
A. Click on the cell you want to name, and go to upper left hand corner to change the
name
B. Another form of absolute referencing without using $$
C. Note, while naming, you cannot put spaces in between the title
2) Array Formula (***IMPORTANT***)
a) Make sure to hit (Control + Shift + Enter)
b) Cannot make changes once an array formula is set
c) highlight whole column and enter formula via name
3) Sorting Data
a) Ascending (A>Z) or Descending (Z>A)
b) Make sure to check order depending on what you need to sort
c) select whole doc, then click Data, click Sort icon
d) to undo, click command Z
4) Filtering Data
● Highlight whole doc, then click Data, then Filter icon
● Clear filter, click on the filter icon with the red x
5) Creating and Formatting Charts
a) Adding Titles, Legend, Trendlines, Arrows
b) click first column, hold command and select second column
c) Select Insert, then Recommended Charts
6) Creating a Pivot Table
a) Select whole doc, Insert, Table,Pivot Table, New Sheet
a) Remember numerical term always goes in the value box
