Self - observation: writing down mood, anxiety levels, Ex: eating disorder - write down what you feel before eating. External sources ( psychiatric records, school, records, legal records: interviews with family members, teachers, etc. ) Receiving info from these sources to get background and don"t have to start from scratch. Have to be careful, sceptical, about whether info is true. Hard to treat someone who doesn"t want to be treated. Neurological tests (brain imaging scans, eeg, etc. ) Subjects are asked to respond to ambiguous stimuli while being unaware of the true purpose of the test. Projective hypothesis: subjects will project aspects of their own personality into their responses. Write down responses with commentary - logic behind answer. Ethnicities, occupation etc. may affect one"s answer. Pictures (30 cards) - pick about 12 cards, some cards are more designed for males and others for female.
