PSC 168 Lecture Notes - Lecture 14: Schizoaffective Disorder, Manhunt 2, Delusional Disorder
Document Summary
Assign meaning to things that happen at random. Believes she has to do things or else something will happen to her. Constant movement - side effect of medications. Can be easier to treat then just schizophrenia. Delusions only (ex: erotomania - believing another is in love with you ?) Males in general have a thinner corpus callosum. Memory, attention, concentration, problem solving, abstraction, etc. Takes longer for those with schizophrenia to be classically conditioned. 2nd stage - late teens / early 20s. Stressed if your mom died when giving birth of you. Mothers accused of causing their kids" schizophrenia. Mothers told not to talk to their kids. Damned if you do, damned if you dont . Once admitted with schizophrenia, the label led others to treat patient a certain way. Ex: say i hear voices, institutionalized, say i don"t hear voices, others believe im lying about not hearing voices.
