 History of Scholarism & Change o Classical Greece  Plato  -everything we experience on Earth is not true, true things are in heaven.  -Eidos: an ideal type. (Ex: an eidos of a fox, an ideal and perfect fox).  Aristotle (Plato’s student)  -Truth lies in the world we live in.  -The Great Chain of Being (the fundamental truth; a hierarchy of perfection).  Static Views of the World and of life o European Middle Ages  Fixity of Species (Fixed in their form): scholars looking for biblical text to account for species of the world, things were created initially by God and are as they were; no evolution; no extinction). th  Shifts in Scholarism in 16 century & forward o Archbishop James Ussher  4004 BC was when world created according to him. o Rene Descartes
