Gutai works of art focus on interaction between person and matter/material. Avant gardism -a group that creates or promotes innovative ideas or techniques in a given field, especially in the arts. 2 groups that show avant gardism are gutai and mono-ha. More expensive to produce photography in color. Artist added water, let it dry, to get to the right consistency. The surface below the mud is gravel. Artist image in mind, science of topological math. Chunk of earth, lifted just as is and placed on earth. Done with exhibition, back in the hole. Like taking out and plugging it back in naturally. The universe exists in a constant state of being, neither losing, nor gaining matter. Therefore, one cannot really create, one can only expose what is there. The most one can do is to remove the dust which has laid upon the surface of a thing and expose the world beneath - sikine nobuo in s. groom, p. 6.
