Differentiation: at puberty, egg enlarges and forms zona pellucida (clear zone); follicle matures and develops fluid cavity (mature follicle); egg ruptures out of ovary (ovulation) releases ovum with corona radiata (adherent follicle cells); remaining follicle cells become corpus luteum.
