Life Properties
All properties of life are:
Order- All organisms strive order
E.g. the golden ratio in nature

Evolutionary adaptation- adaptation is necessary for an organism to
survive in its environment
E.g. giraffes and their long necks to reach leaves in tall trees
Regulation- all living forms strives stability and equilibrium in their
environment AKA homeostasis
E.g. normal body temperature is stable at 37 degrees Celsius
Energy processing- all living forms must process energy to survive
E.g. eating food to obtain a source of energy
Growth and development- a natural process which organisms undergo
E.g. child transitioning to adulthood
Response to environment- helps living forms survive under certain
conditions
E.g. certain mammals have thicker fur to survive in cold, harsh
environments
Reproduction- is necessary for species to continue to exist
E.g. One of the leading causes of animal extinction is due to a lack
of mates.
Cells
Cells are the most basic unit of an organism’s function and structure
The DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) contains heritable information
All forms of life is based on heritable information
All life has the same genetic code
E.g. DNA (transcription)→ mRNA (translation)→ amino acids (fold protein)→
protein
