Document Summary

Reading guide for lesson 22 (pages 276 285) Define each of the following types of dominance and give an example of each: Complete dominance: complete dominance is when heterozygous and homozygous dominant genotypes express the same genotype. Incomplete dominance: when heterozygous pairings show both dominant and recessive traits. Codominance: when both phenotypes of alleles are shown in the heterozygote because both alleles affect the trait in separate ways. Codominance makes it so both traits are expressed. Incomplete dominance shows both traits, but mixed together.
