Document Summary

Charles darwin brought a new approach to evolution biology. He was offered to go on the beagle to survey biology and geology of south america, although he was not a professional biologist or geologist. But he knows how to collect scientific specimens. He did not write his first book, origin of species, until he came back on land. He leant that the diversity of living forms, and found some extinct species (fossils) throughout the trip on the beagle. Some thought that darwin developed the theory of evolution when he landed on. He used ecology to develop ideas about evolution and applied ecological reasoning to explain the lives of animals and plants. Missing fossil evidences are the biggest problem that darwin had to face in order to prove evolution. Darwin found various species of mocking birds on this island and they are extinct. The birds from mainland were thought to colonize the island and changed from one form to another.
