Legal rights must be recognized first and then mobilizing the legal system around that right for rights to be made real. There is something between immediacy and something that"s predictable. What if matthias was really rich and had a trust fund so he could pay his rent, didn"t get evicted, got the best medical care, no delays in school . A wrongful act according to social standards for appropriate conduct. We have administrative systems, worker"s compensation systems, government insurance programs to make people feel better when they are injured or have need. The reputation/shaming approach punishment for not getting anything back. Compensation: self-funded = we can contain it knowing that people can"t fund their own injuries, contingency fee = you"re not expected to pay the attorney unless they win the case. Government could administer a system where everyone shares the burden.
