Focus on trends over time & the patterns (with regard to any differences by gender) When used revised tactic scale -> higher rates & greater gender difference in original with husband to wife having higher rate than wife to husband. Difference in violence by gender with more being perpetrated by husband. Men & women had comparable rates in original & women reported more severe violence than men. In revised version there is greater gender difference in opposite direction. Result of providing more detail about nature of violence. Comparing the original & revised conflict tactics scales. Shows decline in total violence over time. *decline is pretty much the same in every category. Ratio of female to male victims -> women at much higher risk & that has remained relatively stable.
