Difference in climate between a low emissions ( rcp 2. 6) and high emissions ( rcp 8. 5) If the world follows rcp 8. 5, unacceptable impacts. A brief history of where humans got their energy, over time. Kinetic energy ( wind) : mechanical transport. Kinetic energy ( falling water) : mechanical energy. Photosynthesis uses energy from the sun to convert inorganic air (co2) to living biomass! Most of this enegy is released through respiration ( back to co2), when plants are eaten by animals, bacteria, people. Some of the stored solar energy in biomass can be preserved in fossilized remains. We dig this stuff ( fossil fuels) up and burn it.
