Epistemology - the nature and scope of knowledge. He was more interested in civic society. Civic society - ideologies are used to justify domination. It can be harmful, violence in different ways, strong identification with an empire is part of the civic society of britain justifying physical domination. Once a place is colonized they can also spark nationalism as well. Decolonization - ex colonies getting away from britain because it helped get away from oppression. A dictatorship can result cause of strong national identification. He thinks it"s a bad idea that empire system is continuing again and again. Its shifts the power of the discourse to one side to another. Exclusion - the relatively privileged vs the relatively negative group. We are occident, and then there are the others. Study of being, in this case, what exists, how it exists, and how does it come into being. Social constructed, to predominate over another force.
