Gathering type of work (farming) were the women in native american society. Compared to the men in european society who did all the farming. Children work in the summer because there is more labor in the summer. Clothing made in the winter because farming cannot be done in the winter. Warfare is not in the winter because there is snow and cold. Anglo- americans: squaw drudge vs. idle men. Her labor is not taxed because she is legally a woman who gets married and therefore is invisible to the law. But black women are laborers and not dependents, so therefore they should get taxed.
