Vietnam regions: tonkin (north), annam (central), cochinchina( south) The french used the divide and conquer strategies to divide. The vietnamese do not want to be held back any and started war. Led by ho chi minh who led for vietnamese nationalism, and surprisingly won and kicked out french. And the south was controlled by the us. Vietnam war 1955-1975 (american war) (second indochina war) Over a million people were transported from the north to the south in. The us was worried about the spread of communism in vietnam so they got involved. Involved as a proxy war between russia and us in the larger cold war. The theory that if one country falls to communism, then all the countries will become communist.
