Rituals in full metal jacket: making the bed in the morning, shaving heads. Strips the individual of any individual motivation/agency for the choices he makes to his own body. New priorities are created: saying sir before/after every statement, cleaning, assembly/disassembly of rifle, getting in/leaving bed, chants of commands, marching, workout routine, the beating. Provides uniformity and reinforcement of values across individuals so the individuals feel more like a group. Ritual of shaming people reinforces traditional values of military (bold) Class difference: shooters are not educated; noted by the way they speak.
