The social and ethical impacts of the big data movement are briefly covered as well. With further advancement in technology, there appear more ways to connect and communicate with others: social media, communication and entertainment. These allow availability to faster communication with more people. Genetic testing, self-tracking and algorithmic living: quantified self. Idea that data should be used to improve quality of life: data to knowledge. Genetic knowledge is often a source of conflict. Do we want to know everything about our genetic makeup: living algorithmically. Data is used to create programs and methods to aid people go about their lives with more efficiency: personal genomics. Biomedical frontier is looking to delve deeper into the field of ancestry and genomics: data as a public good. Ethics are always considered when science is called into question.
