Document Summary

Black people will never be fully integrated into society bc that"s not the agenda. Dr. king thought america has a conscience- it has none. Cross-cutting identities leave people out of the spotlight. Very few black people identify as being very patriotic. What does it tell us about american politics when of whites feel patriotic vs only of black americans. Institutions where power resides help dictate american ideals. Only having 2 reps per state is black politics. Black americans live in the southeast yet these are shown as republican states. Institutional powers designed things to be that way. Freeways allowed for white people to create ideal neighborhoods via suburbs. What made them ideal no black. Black neighborhoods are being destroyed for structural changes that improve white lives. What do we believe, because this really determines how power acts. Power comes down to more than authority, labels, and roles. Relationships change based on how expectations are met.
