The role of expert witness in civil and criminal proceedings. Treatment - reduce symptoms and humane care. Often in cases incolving medical or drug treatment. Persons cannot be forced to become competent for trial. Data about the potential risk of harms. Paranoid pd: distrust and suspicious, other people"s motives seen as malevolent. Treatment = none but focus on trust and negative thinking. Schizoid pd: detachment from social relationships, restricted range of emotions. Treatment = not really but focus on relationships, empathy, and social skills. Schizotypal pd: social and interpersonal deficits, cognitive and or perceptual distortions and eccentric behavior. Might be early stage schizophrenia but no delusions or hallucinations. Antisocial pd: disregard for and violation of the rights of others. Borderline pd: instability of interpersonal relationships, self-image, emotions and affect, and impulse control. Histrionic pd: excessive emotion and seeking attention. Narcissistic pd: grandiosity, need for admiration, and lack of empathy.
