Need for integration into adult society- get married married. The challenge of adolescence- identity vs role confusion. There is sutointamcy- it is not real intimacy- cant be intimate if you don"t really know who you are. Its not one coming before the other- they both come like at the same time. Sullivan is talking about a capacity for intimacy- i have or don"t have. Androgynous males exhibit similar intimacy level as females (jones and costin) The sex role- fem or masculine- those like in the middle males were more like the females. White males may have more difficult time with intimacy. The black man had similar intimacy as females. Three types of attachment- strong emotional bond that is enduring and persistent. Insecure- both high conduct problems- when low maternal and high maternal control. Secure- low maternal control- high conduct problems; but high maternal control are low in conduct problems.
