Consists of all the nerves that affect voluntary control. Consists of all the sensory neurons that carry info. on our senses. Transmits info. from the sense organs to the brain. Ex) when someone touches you from behind, sensory neurons signals you. Control our bodily function (that are not due to our will) Divided into sympathetic & parasympathetic nervous system. Sympathetic - autonomic arousal of our body. Used in emergency (fight or flight response) Ex) cause pupils to dilate, heart to pump more blood, etc. Ex) rings you back down to a normal breathing rate after sympathetic nervous system arouses you. Consists of glands that secrete hormones into bloodstream. Circulate throughout entire bloodstream, but only affect the tissues/receptor sites that can receive these hormones. Located in the center of the brain, but not part of the cns. Controlled by a part of the brain called the hypothalamus (regulates body symptoms like a sensor)
