This week is the last week for lab participation -- friday 5pm. The last of the anxiety the disorders we"ve mentioned is ocd -- obsessive-compulsive. They perform activities over and over w/o knowing it"s unnatural. Their anxiety causes them to continue performing these type of behaviors. Ex) ocd person will always feel the need to clean themselves throughout the day. Affects about 2 million people in the us (not uncommon) 2 aspects of ocd are 1) obsessions -- persistent thought that causes the person anxiety & 2) compulsions. 1) checking compulsion -- continuously checking as a result of their obsession. Observational learning -- just learning from something to develop this behavior, not necessarily from fears and past experiences. Biological influences -- ns humans to have common, already-there births. Depression -- severe depression that is psychologically impactful lasts longer and is more intense than normal depressions . Bipolar -- changing between being a mania and depression.
