Document Summary

Lecture 4, jan. 12: second cue becomes a inhibitor in xxxxx, cue predicts an outcome, add 2nd cue, but with blocking, we still present the outcome. You don"t learn about the 2nd cue because it"s blocked: overshadowing: present together, split the predictive, cognitive vs motivational, higher order conditioning, sensory pre-conditioning. Present 1 stimulus (light) followed by another preceptal event (like a sound) repeat it many many times. Second phase only with sound, present with food. The test is, present the light and see if it checks if there is food: second order conditioning. Sound signals food in phase 1 (rewarded at first) Phase 2: pair the light with the sound, Test the light, well we put it together so light will mean food.
