Symptoms: brief coma, difficulty concentrating/remembering, persistent vegetative state (physical not mental) Wessex head injury matrix scale (whim) measures improvement during recovery. After recovering consciousness from a tbi, attention and new learning are grossly impaired. Improvement is gradual, typically progressing in this sequence. Temporal orientation: when it is/the tbi occurred.
