Researcher is in the space that is being studied -> just another person in that sense of interaction. Distance of hundreds of years from who studying. Not happening at the time of the research. Want to look through the eyes of someone else. Ethnography = writing the culture learning how the observed see things davis" convert less distance between observer + observed. Ethnomethodology = writing an analysis of how actors use culture more focus on mechanisms than meaning = more analytic distance . Can interview about things that happened in the past. Writing in the research process style, truth, and method. Collect new information until saturation point is reached. Coding what people say + do for common themes that run across the interviews. Each interview is coded as it is carried out (don"t wait to finish) Researchers write memos as they go to help reflect on themes + codes.
