SOC SCI 198 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Lean Startup, Eric Ries, Scientific Management
Document Summary
A startup is a human institution designed to deliver a new proud or service under conditions of extreme uncertainty. Nothing to do with size of company, sector of the economy, or industry. You don"t have to be an app you can be a restaurant owner its still a startup. Stop wasting peoples time- only wasting time if you are not learning from it. Hawthorne affect- they adjusted the lights, the people just wanted to be taken into a count, it didn"t matter if the turn the lights up or down. What mattered was that there was a change. Amazon- the robots touch most of the book. Less people to work- they only deal with the problems. Our goal is to create an institution, not just a product. Need practices and principles geared to the startup context of extreme uncertainty. Not just for two guys in a garage- out pops apple.
