Three types of tasks:
Additive
Disjunctive
Conjunctive
Types of Group Tasks
Group tasks can be usefully divided into the following eight types:
1. Planning
generate an action oriented plan to achieve objectives on which the
members agree
2. Creativity
Tasks that require a group to generate new, original ideas
3. Intellective
Tasks that require a group to solve a problem for which there is a correct
answer
4. Decision Making
Tasks that require a group to solve a problem for which there is no
inherently right answer
5. Cognitive Conflict
Tasks in which group members hold varying viewpoints and strive to
resolve differences
6. Mixed motives
Tasks in which group members face an underlying conflict of interest with
respect to conditions for reward
7. Contests/battles
