Estimates that ~24 of global disease burden in children attribute to environmental risk factors; ~23% of all death and ~33% of the total disease burden for children. Global burden of disease study 2010 & risk factors imply that ~15% of total deaths among all age groups globally are attributable to 5 environmental causes: 3rd leading cause of death on low and middle = chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. 4th leading cause of death = lower respiratory infections. 5th leading cause of death = diarrheal diseases.
