Everyone thought the war was going to end in a couple months. Under lincoln national government is interested in supporting the whole war effort. They were fighting for their homes, families, and slaves. The south has a clear idea why they"re fighting. The north doesn"t have a large public interest in the war. The north has a lot of people to send out to the war they don"t mind losing people as much. The south used their slaves for everything except the war they never would arm their slaves. Created a "stone wall" at the first battle of bull run that"s how he got his name. Take out their arms legs torso and leave their head. If there"s not body there is no confederacy.
