Social conflict analysis: dominance, subordination and sexism. Gender role: set of societal norms for acceptable behaviors based on ones" sex. Males and females are conditioned to experience and respond to emotions very differently: parents, peers, games they play, other adults, media messages; role models. Children are aware by 11-13 years old. A study found that 6th grade boys: less aware of emotions, less expressive of emotions, less empathic toward others, perpetuate cultural norms. Some global agreement on which tasks are feminine and which are masculine. Created a culture with emphasis on normality and conformity. Attend college or get a well paid job.
