Baumrind (1971) - longitudinal study on parenting styles. One way form of communication - no interest in allowing children to express. Similar to authoritarian, but more flexible and seeks two-way communication between parent and child. Non-comforming: represent small subset of authoritative parents that seemed nonconformist; encourage noncomformist tendency where some rules are followed, some are not (mixed outcomes?) Open two-way communication between parent and child. Authoritative not non-comforming had highest % of children. No correlation with bullying or instrumental aggression (aggression used to achieve a nonaggressive goal) Passive - failure to act causes harm to come to target of aggression. Direct - punching someone in the face. Bandura, ross & ross (1961) - imitating aggression. Aggressive model, non-aggressive model, or no model. After child watched video, told children to stay in room and not allowed to play with toys frustration. British study found participants use sex stereotypes even on infants.
