Eastern european governments had little popular support: yugoslavia. Never controlled by stalin, neutral by 1965: stalin dies 1953, krushchev ruled 1955-1964 goulash communism, less censorship. Cuban missile crisis 1962: brezhnev ruled 1964-1982.
