Aes hyperkalemia, n/v, leg cramps, dizziness amiloride [midamor] Site of action proximal convoluted tubule. Iv onset 30-60 min, lasts 6-8 hrs. Non-lipid plaque stability, reduce cv events, increase bone formation. Liver makes less cholesterol and responds by making more ldl receptors to remove cholesterol from blood. 1 & 2 prevention of cv events. Assess more muscle tenderness, pain, numbness, tingling. Reduces ldl and tg levels, raises hdl (best) Aes: intense flushing, gi upset, liver injury. Hyperglycemia, gouty arthritis, elevated blood uric acid.
