It can also indicate you work in the theatre, if audience members have questions in the lobby. Even if you"re not crew, but you"re an understudy or something, it"s a good idea to wear blacks. First dress rehearsal is when you start wearing blacks. If they want you to wear all blacks, they have to pay you and provide them for you. You get paid a lil extra too! Ready to go out and interact professionally with the audience, while also being able to work in the booth. Still dark colors, but not completely black. Maybe you wear a tie, or dress pants instead. Still should be able to move backstage.
