Because of our growing numbers humans have a measurable footprint on all components of the earth system. Atmosphere: air pollution, emission of greenhouse gases. Ozone (o3) in the stratosphere absorbs uv radiation. Stratospheric ozone is destroyed by chlorofluorocarbons (cfcs) This destruction is mostly evident at the south pole as an ozone hole . Ozone hole started healing because of ban of cfcs. The carbon cycle: cycle of c between land ocean and atmosphere. Conduction: heat transfer that occurs between warm and cold objects, e. g. earth"s surface and atmosphere, and is also known as sensible heat flux. Phase changes: heat transfer due to evaporation, e. g. from the surface when liquid water is present, to the atmosphere, and is known as latent heat flux. Convection: macroscopic redistribution of heat, driven by heating at the surface.
