Begins that consumption is patterned in a day, weekday vs. Weekend dinners, holidays vs. normal days, life cycles: birthday. Meals are named in sequential but drinks are not. Following structure of a conscious meal and people"s consciousness of it. Food relates w/ people and their relationship w/ each other. How new meanings get replaced by old meanings (mintz)
