Document Summary

Relativity color is the most relative medium in art. Simultaneous contrast two colors side by side interact with one another and change our perception accordingly. The effect of this interaction is called simultaneous contrast or interdependence. Simultaneous contrast is most intense when the two colors are complementary colors (the more opposite the back- ground color is, the more intensi ed is the effect) Afterimage an afterimage is an optical illusion that refers to an image continuing to appear in one"s vision after the exposure to the original image has ceased. Negative afterimages are caused when the eye"s photoreceptors, primarily those known as cone cells, adapt from the overstimulation and lose sensitivity. Ewald hering explained how the brain sees afterimages, in terms of three pairs of pri- mary colors. This opponent process theory states that the human visual system inter- prets color information by processing signals from cones and rods in an antagonistic manner.
