Cuban youth want to put their own revolutionary input (they are william tell"s son) Critiquing the government and what the revolution has become. Black youth movement in cuba that had not really been a part of the revolution. Officially, racism ended with the revolution (1959) No more legal racism (segregated clubs, etc) But racism still clearly prevalent in employment, racial divisions, No civil rights movements akin to that of the u. s. Rap became a means to voice afro-cuban political concerns. Accepted easier and quicker than rock in cuba. Associated itself with ideas/goals of the revolution. 1990s: women of darker complexion girlfriend for a while .
