2 weeks of how films are shot and 2 weeks of how films are edited - the 2 biggest aspects of making a film. Essentially what happens in front of the camera or is within the camera"s view, and how that affects the audience"s reception of the scene. Recommendation: watch the videos emailed to you, helps get into visual analysis mindset. Begin to think about what the camera is doing in scenes. Lens choice is very important in how the shot is done and directly related to the focus of each frame. It won"t always matter, a film will choose different lenses to use based on the scene. Big and wide-open, not much zoom; everything is in focus (back, middle, and foreground), with the foreground being the most distorted so that it almost pops out of the screen. Only a specific object is focused, often used in close-ups and dialogue as it isolates the character.
