Memory was considered an art in ancient and medieval times. Didn"t want to replicate books so they had to communicate to large groiups oralls which required memory. Contiguity (following in natural order of some kind) Enabled you to follow things from one to another. Simonides reconstructed the guest list from memory after a tragic banquet when the roof caved in. He was able to reconstruct who was there. Greeks thought that memory and creativity were mirrors of each other, two variants of the same skill or attribute. The more you know, the more associations you will have for new things you learn. The more you know the more you will be able to remember and the easier it will be to earn more. This short book describes the memory palace method (also the journey method or the method of loci), still used today by memory athletes .
