Document Summary

Post lab quiz due by tuesday morning. Extra credit quiz due by 10 am monday. Scientific process: observations hypothesis predictions experiments or new observations (might have to go back to hypothesis) theory. Gather evidence to support or reject hypothesis. If results do not support hypothesis you must reject or revise hypothesis. If results are consistent over many experiments hypothesis becomes theory. Theories are almost fully proven but can be disproven with new data. Ex: every time i wash my car it rains washing my car causes it to rain. Ex: ulcers and stress (h. pylori bacteria causes ulcer not stress; being stressed does not cause an ulcer) Two things that are kept in the same conditions and you change one variable in order to attribute the result to that change in the variable. Hypothesis: soil nematodes negatively affect plant growth. Experiment: plants grown with and without soil nematodes. Graph: independent variable- with/out nematodes ; dependent variable- plant growth.
