LIFESCI 30A Lecture Notes - Lecture 3: State Space
Document Summary
The reason for learning to navigate sage is because most dynamical system outputs cannot be described by mathematical functions (no formulas, trigonometrical functions, etc) As the state changes, it creates a curve in the state space showing change over time. State spaces forming a loop is a rare event. In state space, this is considered a parametric function. The state space will be represented by a line. R = number of rabbits (population size) will be represented by the positive r axis. Number of rabbits x-axis; number of foxes y-axis: *only limited to the first quadrant. Voltage vs current may include all quadrants. A 3-dimensional graph that incorporates all 3 variables as an x, y and z axis. With 4 state variables, the state must include all possible outputs of all 4 states: 4-dimensional graph (or more, cannot be visualized by people, only programmed i. e. (grass, rabbits, foxes, lions) contains (120, 25, 7, 3)
