Nelson goodman"s new riddle of induction ultimately shows that justifying the principle of uniformity of nature. Goodman will show that no matter how the world is, there is some way in which unobserved instances are like observed instances. If he succeeds then the pun is trivial and thus it is insufficient to justify induction. Grue: an object is grue if and only if it is first observed before the year 2050 and is green, or if it is not first observed before the year 2050 and is blue. The green argument ( argument 2 in t&r pg 51) (1) all of the many emeralds observed in diverse circumstances before. Stating that the emeralds will be blue after 2050.
