Document Summary

Food is composed of macronutrients, which generate energy in the form of calories for our body, which is then converted into atp (the fuel for the body) Micronutrients are good for the body, but do not generate calories. Primarily come from plants - the only animal source is dairy. Sugar is a specific type of carb. Whole (unprocessed) carbohydrates are better as they have been altered/processed less. On the flip side, refined/processed carbohydrates are not great as some components have been removed or additional sweeteners have been added. Vegetables are an excellent source of carbs (also lots of fiber) Fiber keeps you full but is not digested (good for weight loss) The most common form of carb in the body is in the form of glucose. Glucose is used for energy (atp) or stored as glycogen for later in the liver or in the muscles. Primarily comes from meat, grains, dairy, and eggs.
