Those in power saw themselves as acting on behalf of society. Fathers argued it would be the downfall of the government. Ex: fow show: how frank handles money, dead dog: burying it is a waste of time, limes: think or thin, pickles, manipulation, crucifix bloody. Collective choices are made by voting so organization is key. Co(cid:374)stitutio(cid:374)"s pro(cid:448)isio(cid:374)s for e(cid:374)a(cid:272)ti(cid:374)g la(cid:449)s a(cid:374)d ele(cid:272)ti(cid:374)g leaders put a huge premium on building majority alliances across institutions and electoral units. As long as the party can hold itself together, you can consistently reap legislative victories. Political parties: organized attempts to control the leverage of government. Originally designed to be temporary expedients to achieve collective action goals that were difficult to achieve w/o organization. Voters in a way to distinguish among candidates in office.
