Severity is determined by frequency of compensatory behaviors: mild: 1-3 episodes/week, moderate: 4-7 episodes/ week, severe: 8-13 episodes/week, extreme: 14+ episodes per week. Bulimia nervosa cont: onset late adolescence or early adulthood, prevalence 1 2% 90% women: comorbid with depression, pds, anxiety, substance abuse, conduct disorder. Week 1 lecture 4: eating disorders: suicide attempts & completions higher than in general population but lower than in anorexia nervosa.
