RELIGN M132 Lecture Notes - Lecture 21: Authoritarianism, Toxic Masculinity
Document Summary
It"s only been around for a short time. A social system where men hold the power over everything: economy, military, and politics. Female presidents around the world still has a patriarchy system. Women needed to be controlled in a way that didn"t give them power. Harems, multiple women can be married to one man. Children have to be controlled in this patriarchy. Farming needs growth and protection, and must be taken away from other people. All of it is subdued to the masculine element. It"s just that the sustem created is based on the authoritative control that is painted as black and white. It falls apart and rebuilds itself up in the form of another patriarchy. Ex: julius caesar was getting too much power and authority, so the elites in competition take him out, leading to a more authoritative system than before. A cult of masculinity is created, with the bare chest and weapon in hand, posing for the people.
